Post-Rock Guitars Vol 1

What it does

A guitar pack for AudioModern’s SoundBox sampler, the first of two volumes. It holds 30 ambient guitar presets recorded from six string, twelve string and baritone guitars with tremolo picked articulations, aimed at drifting post rock textures. SoundBox stacks four samples per preset, so most patches keep evolving from a single held chord, and the ones named for the mod wheel crossfade one layer out as another comes in.

In the demo

Jade imports the sbpack file through SoundBox, then plays every preset from an overhead keyboard, usually holding one or two notes and letting the patch run itself. She swaps a layer for a glitch vocal from an unrelated pack to show that presets are not fixed.

Worth knowing

SoundBox is a free download, but one of its own in-app packs has to be bought before editing unlocks, and this pack is sold separately on the developer’s site. At 1.75 GB it is heavy, and Jade suggests an M1 iPad or better before playing chords.
