Pipe Organ

What it does

A sampled church pipe organ for SoundBox, AudioModern’s free sampler, drawn from 378 recorded source notes and arranged into 10 multi-layer presets. They run from full organ weight down to quieter, more intimate registrations, with named stops like the bourdon, the soft mellow and the clarion. Several presets map their layers to different parts of the keyboard rather than stacking them, so the low pedal-style sound and the upper registration sit under separate hands.

In the demo

Jade opens with a short piece putting the organ under a choir, strings and piano, then imports the pack and plays each preset from a MIDI keyboard, zooming in on the key map to show where each layer starts and stops. She notes the heavy reverb tail baked into the early presets, adds Scaler to feed it classical progressions, and layers it with Pianoteq.

Worth knowing

The library is 683 MB, which Jade keeps on an external drive rather than on the iPad. SoundBox is free, but its editing pages unlock only once one of AudioModern’s own in-app packs is bought.
