Phase

What it does

A small soundscape pack for SoundBox, AudioModern’s free sampler. The presets are slow pads and atmospheres built with long attacks, so notes fade in rather than speak, and each one ships with a duplicate tuned to 432 Hz alongside the standard version. Like every SoundBox pack it arrives as an SBP file you import yourself, and the individual samples come with it, so layers can be swapped, reversed or remapped once SoundBox is unlocked.

In the demo

Jade imports the pack in AUM and plays each preset from a keyboard, holding notes so the slow attacks have time to open. She plays the standard and 432 Hz versions of the same sound one after the other so the tuning difference is audible, then closes the show by running four SoundBox instances driven by Bounce Bud with sounds from this pack and Tureis.

Worth knowing

This is a handful of atmospheres rather than a playable instrument, and the long attacks mean it does not respond well to quick playing. SoundBox itself is free, but its editing pages stay locked until one of AudioModern’s own in-app packs is bought.
