Numa Player

What it does

An instrument player that loads four slots at once, each pulling from acoustic pianos, electric pianos, keys or strings and pads, with its own volume, octave, transpose and MIDI channel. Slots layer or split across the keyboard by dragging handles, and a second pair of handles sets each slot’s velocity range. Every slot carries a three band EQ plus a pick of chorus, phaser, flanger, tremolo, ping pong delay, wah, compressor and distortion, with reverb, delay, EQ and compression on the master.

In the demo

Jade splits a keyboard three ways, builds an ensemble by pointing all four slots at the strings library, then gives each slot its own MIDI channel and drives the lot from a single instance with Euclidean. She plays through every sound in the four libraries, showing the per instrument controls that change with each one.

Worth knowing

Jade could only get two AUv3 instances running in AUM, so the MIDI channel routing does more work here than stacking copies. GarageBand does not expose those MIDI features, which caps it at four layered sounds there.
