iFretless Guitar

What it does

A guitar played on a fretboard laid out for one touch per note instead of strumming. Strings, frets, tuning system, transposition and note labels all adjust, and velocity comes from how hard the glass is struck, with range and force sliders setting how that reads. Up to three tones layer at once, drawn from Strat and Telecaster pickups, steel string, nylon and classical acoustics, a hollow body and a synth, over tone, EQ, reverb, delay, drive, vibrato, a wah pedal and power chords. It also takes MIDI in from a keyboard.

In the demo

Jade runs it in GarageBand, plays from both the screen and an Arturia keyboard, and layers a pad and a grunge tone under an acoustic as a drone. She then puts Gain Stage Acoustic in front of it to swap the pickup sound after the fact.

Worth knowing

At the time of the demo it was Inter-App Audio only, so it records audio rather than MIDI and wants opening before the host app; Jade says an AUv3 version was in development. The layout is built for fingers on glass, and it gets cramped on an iPhone.
