What it does

A noise instrument built from Hainbach’s recordings of vintage measurement gear, tape machines, analog synths and field experiments. Sounds are grouped into banks of eight samples, and a large dial crossfades between them while a trip control moves that dial on its own, at speeds from 64 bars down to free running, in pendulum or random motion. A fuzzy control scrambles the movement. Downstream sit a switchable filter with cutoff and resonance, a bit crusher, and a routing button that puts either one first. The banks are free downloads, and you can build your own from imported audio.

Jade runs five instances in AUM for a soundscape, then takes one apart control by control, modulates the filter from the dial, and builds a bank of her own samples complete with artwork and a description.

Worth knowing

It is iOS and iPadOS only, and the desktop version is a separate purchase. The output is texture and drone rather than pitched material.
