Neon Audio Editor

What it does

A single file wave editor that runs standalone or as an AUv3. Audio arrives from the Files app, AudioShare, the clipboard or a recording into a media bay with folders, and mp3 and m4a imports convert to wav. Edits are destructive but undoable: crop, fade, reverse, normalize, mono, insert silence, plus offline effects covering reverb, tape delay, EQ, harmony, noise reduction, pitch shift and auto tune. Warp stretches a clip to the host tempo, and a clip launcher fires saved clips from MIDI keys.

In the demo

Jade strips room noise out of a vocal take, then loads it in AUM as an effect, where it records, and as a source, where it only plays. She records Hammerhead in on a trigger level with a length limit, effects a single snare hit, warps a 120 BPM loop against a slower GarageBand guitar take, and launches four clips from a keyboard.

Worth knowing

One stereo file at a time, so not a multitrack recorder. A later update episode covers mp3 metadata, an external AUv3 slot, tempo estimation, region slicing to a keyboard and LUFS metering. The NEON sequencer listed here is a different app.
