What it does
Sends an iOS device’s screen, with its audio, out as an NDI source over the local network, so broadcast software on a computer can pick it up without a capture card or a mirroring tool. NDI is NewTek’s standard for carrying video across a computer network at low latency. Starting a capture is a tap, a confirmation panel and a countdown, after which the app sits in the background with a status button left to stop it.
In the demo
Jade captures an iPad screen into OBS as a second source next to her camera feed, adds an iPhone 6S screen as a third, and plays audio through from AudioShare and GarageBand to show that sound travels with the picture. She then overloads the setup until the audio stutters.
Worth knowing
It stands in for a capture card or a tool like Reflector, though Jade notes capture cards can be found for around twenty dollars. Notifications go out on the stream, so Do Not Disturb comes first. The app was called NDI HX Capture at the time of the demo.
