Naiad

What it does

A pack for AudioModern’s SoundBox sampler holding 15 presets, each built from four layers that move around each other using SoundBox’s vector control. The material is slow and ethereal, aimed at ambient and sleep-adjacent writing, with plucks, chimes, underwater textures and long swells. It ships twice over, once at standard tuning and once tuned to 432 Hz.

In the demo

Jade plays a short AUM piece, then imports the pack and holds single notes through the presets one after another. She mutes layers to expose the four tracks inside a patch, drags the vector by hand, uses the mod wheel to pull a sound away to nothing and build it back, and saves a favourite from the browser.

Worth knowing

Several presets start quiet and swell hard, which is why Jade puts a limiter after them. The pack needs SoundBox 1.07 or later, and anyone wanting rhythmic or melodic playing rather than long beds will find little here.
