Motto Akemie

What it does

An iPad version of ALM’s Akemie’s Taiko Eurorack module, with several of them side by side over a step sequencer. Each voice is a pair of FM operators that either modulate each other or mix together, with a start and end frequency, a speed dial that bends between the two, a harmonic ratio, wave shapes, feedback and a release per operator. That feedback is where the drum sounds come from. In the sequencer every step carries its own gate, delay, random skip, level, pan and its own value for most of the panel controls, and each track has its own length, division and randomiser.

In the demo

Jade solos one voice from the init patch and works through each control so the operators are audible on their own, then moves to the sequencer and builds an ambient piece lane by lane, leaning on the per-track randomiser.

Worth knowing

Presets do not pass between the standalone app and the AUv3, so a patch saved in one is missing from the other, and there is no undo. It is iPad only. A Mac and Windows version is sold by ALM.
