Morphing

What it does

A sound pack for SoundBox, AudioModern’s free sampler for iPad and desktop. Its 50 presets each hold two layers, an arpeggio over a pad or a texture under a pluck, and the mod wheel morphs between them. The material leans ambient, textural, lo-fi and analog rather than orchestral, with arpeggios, pianos, chimes and distorted pads.

In the demo

Jade imports the pack through SoundBox’s user sounds panel, then plays every preset with the mod wheel parked in the middle so both layers are audible, sweeping it up and down on several so the crossfade is clear. She also drives a few from a chord app at a slowed tempo.

Worth knowing

Several presets run hot enough that Jade puts a limiter after them. SoundBox itself is free, but unlocking its full feature set, importing packs included, needs one AudioModern pack bought inside the app.
