What it does
A delay built from real recordings bounced off the moon at the Dwingeloo radio telescope. Simplex mode works like a radio operator’s transceiver, with a transmit button and a Ping Moon function that fetches the current Earth to moon distance and sets the delay time from it. Duplex mode frees the time dial so the moon can be pulled close enough for chorus or pushed out for long echoes. A Doppler control shifts frequency rather than pitch, and a moon dust layer adds the noise floor of the return signal, with an envelope to gate it to the echoes.
In the demo
Jade speaks into a microphone in simplex mode and sends the phrase up and back, then switches to duplex on a Pianoteq part to sweep time, feedback, Doppler and dust.
Worth knowing
Feedback runs away quickly and the whole thing is aimed at degraded, drifting textures rather than clean repeats. Ping Moon needs an internet connection to calculate the distance.
