iSymphonic Orchestra

What it does

A sampled orchestra played from a MIDI keyboard or from a host app. It holds 16 pages, each carrying one instrument with its own volume and effect, and each assignable to one of 16 MIDI channels, so pages either stack into a single large ensemble or land on 16 separate tracks. Settings cover MIDI input, audio output, latency, polyphony and Bluetooth MIDI, with an editable velocity curve and per-instrument tunings. Sounds beyond the included set are downloadable packs.

In the demo

Jade runs it through Music Studio over Inter-App Audio and builds a ten-instrument orchestra on one MIDI channel in about twenty minutes, from medium strings and a solo trumpet through massed brass, a baroque ensemble, French horns, piano, solo violin, woodwind, glockenspiel and cello, adjusting volumes as she goes, then saves it as a preset.

Worth knowing

The packs are in-app purchases, and Jade points out they mix instrument families together rather than grouping them, so assembling a matched section can take several. Browsing has no filter by brass, strings or woodwind.
