Hip Hop Drummer

What it does

A drum app built around hip hop, with banks for boom bap, Dilla, trap, afrobeats, Latin, swing and odd time signatures, each holding its own grooves and a matching kit. Hits are redrawn by tapping, repeated within a step, and coloured by strength, and any piece of the kit can be swapped from a long sound list. Flex swing shifts the timing of chosen drums on their own rather than the whole pattern. There is a mixer with panning, filtering and ghost notes, a jam section for fills and crashes, saveable live pads, and a song mode that chains parts.

In the demo

Jade works inside AUM, locks a kit so it survives a bank change, and pushes flex swing onto hats and snare in a boom bap pattern. She exports a full mix, per-drum stems and MIDI, passes a groove over to Soft Drummer, and sets up the loopback route that gets its audio into Logic.

Worth knowing

It is Inter-App Audio rather than AUv3, so it runs as a separate app and has to be launched before the host. Sending a groove across failed until both apps were restarted.
