What it does

A sampled Tibetan singing bowl instrument, recorded round robin at different velocities, with key-switch articulations covering two bell hits and two sustains. The control set is deliberately short: volume, tuning, an ADSR, chorus, reverb, delay, and low and high pass filters, all exposed to a host for automation. The same sound set is also sold as a library for Decent Sampler, which is how it appeared before the iOS app.

In the demo

Jade loads the Decent Sampler version first to show it playing on iPad without its background image, then switches to the app and works the articulations from a keyboard. She stretches the envelope into pads, tunes the bowls down, runs the presets, and builds an ambient piece from several instances alongside a no input mixer and other effects.

Worth knowing

The delay is short with no time control, and the tuning readout from the Decent Sampler version is missing here. Samples cost real processing when chords are held. Jade is clear that it makes the sound of bowls and nothing more than that.
