What it does
A vocal harmonizer that follows a sung melody and synthesizes up to three harmony voices in the singer’s own voice. Six buttons across the top switch modes, covering chords, diatonic, chromatic, MIDI, a barbershop stack and a bass voice. A glide rate sets how far it will slide to find a note, pitch correction can be switched in or out, and a second panel holds the key, the scale degree, the key quality and the chord inversion. Bars along the bottom set how many harmony voices sound at once.
In the demo
Jade works it inside GarageBand on an iPad, going through all six modes, then records a chorus for a track she is writing with Steve Maura. She moves the glide rate up and down to show how it handles a singer who slides into notes rather than landing them, and tests it against deliberate vibrato.
Worth knowing
GarageBand captures the dry voice rather than the harmonies, and the panel will not go full screen there. It rewards clean pitching, since notes that are not landed leave the harmonies wandering.
