Grandis

What it does

A concert grand piano for AudioModern’s SoundBox, recorded from close and stage microphone positions that can be blended or used alone. It comes with one main Concert Grand preset and eight chord presets that feed SoundBox’s chord section, with light limiting, EQ and reverb baked in. Around 4 GB as wave files or 1.5 GB as FLAC.

In the demo

Jade imports the pack in AUM, sends it a Piano Motifs sequence and plays it from her keyboard to show velocity response. She steps through the eight chord presets, edits chords, octaves and strumming offset, then switches between close and stage mics and adds a SoundBox reverb. A bonus section covers the $2 Sparks packs.

Worth knowing

It is a single-piano library with one core preset, so it suits sketching and playing rather than deep sample editing. SoundBox is free on iPad, Windows, macOS and Linux and loads the pack without an in-app purchase.
