GenuineSounds Vol. I

What it does

A collection of sampled keyboards, three grands, an upright, an electric grand, several electric pianos, four clavs and combo patches, running on a proprietary streaming engine built for low memory and CPU. The app downloads small, then a sound bank manager pulls individual instruments down and deletes them again, so you carry only what you use. An effects rack sits after the instrument with tremolos, wahs, chorus, phaser, flanger, delay, amps and reverbs, plus EQ, pedal noise and velocity curves.

In the demo

Jade runs five instances alongside six of Scaler in AUM to show the CPU load, downloads an instrument live, then plays through the pianos and electrics with the effects. She A/Bs it against GarageBand’s grand, then Pure Piano and Ravenscroft on the same low notes.

Worth knowing

The full library is 7.7 GB, so storage matters more than usual. It buys a whole set of keyboards rather than one deeply detailed piano, which is the opposite trade from single-instrument apps.
