GELABS

What it does

A guitar amp and pedal modeller that runs stompboxes in front of and behind an amp setup. The free download opens all of the gear: compressors, several wahs and auto wahs, drives, fuzzes, preamps, three noise gates, equalizers, delays, reverbs, an Octavia and a long cabinet list, plus a tuner and a metronome. What the in-app purchases buy is preset save slots, from $2.99 for one up to $49.99 for unlimited, and the free download comes with a single slot. A cloud section carries tones and samples uploaded by other players, searchable and downloadable.

In the demo

Jade adds it to a GarageBand microphone channel over Inter-App Audio and plays a seven string. She works the chain view, pulling a pedal out of a djent preset and dropping a mid boost in, stacks two wahs, then downloads a high gain cloud tone and a Slayer preset, cleaning each up with a gate.

Worth knowing

Every cloud download overwrites the one free slot, so keeping more than a single tone means buying slots. Jade had no unlock for this demo. The same episode closes with a short bonus look at VStomp Amp.
