What it does

An effect that captures short slices of incoming audio and replays them as ratcheted, stuttered patterns across a sequencer lane. Pattern length runs from two to sixty four bars with dotted and odd divisions, and a complexity control sets how many steps fire. There is a gate and smoothing stage, a resonant filter, dry and wet mix, step locking, and an infinity setting that re-rolls the pattern after a chosen number of passes.

In the demo

Jade runs it over loops from Loopmix, drums, noise and synths in AUM, holding the flash button for a momentary re-roll and using the lock to keep the steps she likes. She sets minimum and maximum ratchet counts so the randomizer stays inside a range, and plays saved presets from a MIDI keyboard.

Worth knowing

It is an iPad app, so there is no iPhone version, and the results are rhythmic glitching rather than a subtle effect.
