Tessera

What it does

A tuned resonator effect that runs incoming audio through up to twelve parallel resonators pinned to a root note and scale. Eleven models cover plucked strings, bars, bells, bowls, glass, membranes, plates and tubes, and five motion engines (Contour, SEQ, Strum, Arp, Swarm) move the voices, with tempo sync, MIDI keying and gated chords.

In the demo

Jade runs it in AUM over drums, a piano and a Pro A5 pad, stepping through every resonator model on a hi-hat and then each motion engine: drawing step patterns, strumming and arpeggiating the voices, letting the swarm drift. She finishes by keying the resonators from a MIDI keyboard while a chord plays.

Worth knowing

Level jumps between models are large, so she keeps a limiter after it. This is an experimental texture tool rather than a mix effect, and anyone after a conventional reverb or chorus is looking in the wrong place.
