Fly Tape 2

What it does

A cassette tape effect meant to be triggered by hand rather than set and left. Buttons along the panel cover speed, saturation, mute, reverse, warble, lo-fi, handbrake and stutter, and a hold button latches them so several run together. Speed steps down to half and quarter time, warble and lo-fi each hold a page of variations, and the handbrake ramps from a hard stop through progressively slower settles. There is a mix control, a tape noise level and a bypass, plus a manual with tutorials and specs built into the app.

In the demo

Jade runs it in AUM over two Atom sequences driving piano, with live guitar, drums and vocals alongside. She latches warble and lo-fi together, puts reverse on a piano patch that is already playing backwards to see what happens, and rides the speed and handbrake buttons through a long improvisation.

Worth knowing

It is AUv3 only, with no standalone version, so it needs a host. The controls are built for playing during a take, so anyone after a static tape colour to leave running on a track will be reaching past most of what is here.
