- 8:27Compared directly against a real second overdub of the same line
- 10:12Used on backing harmonies rather than the lead
- 13:42Mix, delay, drift and spread walked through on a looped vocal
- 14:50Adding a third voice to the doubling
- 19:00On distorted electric guitar, where it reads as flange or chorus
What it does
The paid follow-up to the free FakeTake, working the same automatic double tracking trick of a short delay, stereo spread and modulated drift to imply a second overdub. Version two widens the delay and modulation ranges and adds a third voice, keeping the preset bank, user saving, randomize button and a short help guide. Controls stay to mix, delay, drift and spread.
In the demo
Jade puts it on a solo lead vocal and A and B tests it against the real second take she recorded for that song, then moves it to the backing harmonies. She follows with distorted and clean electric guitar, where the wider settings read as flange and chorus rather than doubling.
Worth knowing
The original FakeTake is still free and does the core effect, so the extra range and the third voice are what the paid version buys.
