FAC Medusa

What it does

A compressor with a three band preamp in front. A crossover splits the input into low, mid and high, each with its own gain and saturation, and the crossover filters run at 12, 24 or 48 dB. The compressor then works on the summed signal or per band, with threshold, ratio up to infinity, attack, release, knee, range, auto gain and both downward and upward compression. A parallel compressor, a brickwall limiter and a dry to wet mix follow.

In the demo

Jade skips compression theory and pushes the app for character, splitting the preamp and winding saturation up until synths and drums come apart, then dropping the limiter in and out to show how hard it works. She runs the presets on drums, then moves to acoustic guitar and a vocal.

Worth knowing

The sidechain only works when the host provides an extra input bus, which means adding the separate multi out extension to the chain.
