What it does

A four-lane instrument that builds accompaniment from chords you hold. Each lane runs a sequencer of up to 64 steps, and each step can call a different sample from a bank of 16, with its own timing division, pitch, velocity, LFO, filter and envelope. Sequence mode plays the samples as steps, wave cycle mode crossfades between them, which is where the evolving textures come from. Lanes split across the keyboard by zone, and there are chord pads and a song mode.

In the demo

Jade builds a performance from scratch, laying in drums, a pad lane, a piano and a bass, then splits them into keyboard zones so she can play piano over the accompaniment. She imports her own samples by drag and drop, and drives it from Helium chord tracks over Tone Packets in AUM.

Worth knowing

The depth is the cost of entry, and Jade runs well over time without covering everything. Loading a ready-made performance works, but the app pays off with time spent in it.
