Etude

What it does

A sampled Yamaha C3X grand piano running as an AUv3 instrument, so it loads inside a host alongside other apps. The panel carries mellow and bright voicings, a character dial that raises key and pedal noise, resonance, selectable tunings, a dynamics range limit for playing softly, EQ, compressor, and a reverb list running from small rooms to orchestral stages and a shimmer. The update covered here matches the changes across Steinberg’s instrument range: a preset browser with search and favourites, a sustain toggle, and key switches and chord pads placed on the keyboard itself.

In the demo

Jade shows the new panels inside Iconica Sketch and states that Verve and Etude received the same additions, so Etude is not opened on its own. The final section shows the three instruments loading in Cubasis and in other AUv3 hosts.

Worth knowing

On iOS it is a separate purchase that also unlocks a copy inside Cubasis, while Android owners buy it from the Cubasis shop instead. It sits alongside Verve if you want a felt piano as well as a grand.
