What it does

A free expansion for AudioModern’s SoundBox sampler, drawn from an orchestral session Sonora Cinematic recorded for a larger instrument. Flutter-tongue woodwind articulations were put through granular and experimental processing, giving shimmering pads, ghostly harmonics and tense whispering winds. There are four presets, each built from sample layers that can be muted, replaced with sounds from other packs, or spread across the keyboard.

In the demo

Jade opens with a short piece running four SoundBox instances, then imports the pack and plays all four presets from a keyboard in AUM. She switches the sample layers off one at a time, looks at which source sounds feed each preset, and swaps the wind layer for a clean guitar from Sonora’s Post-Rock Guitars.

Worth knowing

Four presets is small, which Jade frames as a taste of the paid packs rather than a library to work from. You get it by giving an email address on the Sonora Cinematic site, which sends a download link. SoundBox itself is free, with editing unlocked by any AudioModern pack bought in the app.
