CymbalScapes

What it does

A free, name-your-price library for AudioModern’s SoundBox sampler, made from a small set of cymbals and hi-hats stretched into soundscapes and texture effects. It carries 15 multi-layered presets, each spreading its layers over different parts of the keyboard, playable as single notes or as chords for a heavier result. Being SoundBox presets, the layers keep the host’s filters, delays, reverb and distortion, and can be re-edited, remapped or mixed with sounds from other packs.

In the demo

Jade imports the pack file into SoundBox inside AUM and plays every preset in turn, opening the editor to show how far each layer reaches up the keyboard. She layers in sounds and vocal phrases from other packs, and sends one preset through an outboard reverb in AUM.

Worth knowing

These are atmospheres rather than playable cymbal hits, so anyone after a drum library is in the wrong pack, and one preset maxed her DSP on two notes. SoundBox itself is free but stays locked until one of its paid packs is bought.
