Cascade

What it does

A reverb built from a cascade of all-pass diffusion stages rather than one algorithm. Input width feeds a diffusion block whose stage count, distance and spread move together or separately, with an inertia control over how fast changes settle. Around it sit a feedback loop, a pre-delay and delay that can sync to host tempo, chorus-style modulation, high and low cuts, and a dampening section for the tail. Freeze holds a tail with no new input, while infinite holds it and keeps taking signal.

In the demo

Jade opens with four tracks each running an instance, then bypasses them all so the dry material is audible. She rebuilds a patch from the input stage onward on a guitar part, watching the stage map as she moves distance and spread, then runs presets through an FM synth, a vocal and drums.

Worth knowing

It is aimed at long, modulated, slowly moving spaces, though pulling the mix and dampening back does give a plainer short reverb. Anyone after a one-knob reverb for a mix bus will find far more control here than they need.
