BLEASS Phase Mutant

What it does

An effect that applies FM to whatever audio runs into it, treating the incoming signal the way a carrier and modulator behave inside an FM synth. Three algorithms set the routing: the oscillator modulates the input, the input modulates the oscillator, or the input modulates itself. Alongside attack, release, ratio spanning three octaves either way, waveform, fine tune and stereo width there is an intensity switch, a filter, gain and a dry wet mix, with two LFOs, an envelope and a step sequencer assignable across most of it.

In the demo

Jade opens the standalone version, which imports samples and plays them, and runs its drums, piano and pads through each algorithm. In AUM she puts it on drums, a SampleWiz bass line and an ambient track of her own, drawing sequencer steps into the waveform and cutoff, then patches it onto a live microphone to hear FM on her voice.

Worth knowing

It needs a source to chew on, so it is not a synth you play. BLEASS also sells a desktop version from its own site.
