Blackspire

What it does

A dark ambient addition to Kompose Audio’s Fusion Collection for AudioModern’s SoundBox sampler. It holds two presets, a lead and a soundscape, each assembled from several layers that drift out into long, weighty, misty beds. Those layers can be soloed, muted or replaced with samples from any other pack you own, which is where most of the variation has to come from.

In the demo

Jade imports it alongside Kumori, plays both presets from a keyboard in AUM, and takes the layers apart one at a time to show the synth, saturated and horn-like elements underneath. She swaps a layer for a gong drone from another Kompose pack, then uses the soundscape as the bass bed for a generative piece.

Worth knowing

Two presets is a small pack, so it works as a texture to build on rather than a library to browse. Sold separately from Kumori, covered in the same episode. Presets take a moment to finish loading, and SoundBox needs one AudioModern in-app pack before you can edit or import your own samples.
