Aural Alchemy 2 for FRMS

What it does

An in-app expansion for FRMS, Imaginando’s layered granular, FM, additive and subtractive synth. It adds hundreds of samples and 68 presets from sound designer DMT Cymatics, pitched at space dub, trip hop, glitch, cinematic and ambient work. A good share of the patches are rhythmic and carry their own tempo, and all of them stay editable, with mod wheel routing and layers that can be muted.

In the demo

Jade buys the pack from the store page inside FRMS, then plays the presets one after another, mostly on a single held key, riding the mod wheel to bring layers and rhythms in. She moves around the keyboard on the tempo-locked patches to show the beat holding steady while the pitch changes.

Worth knowing

It needs FRMS to run at all, and FRMS is not a conventional synth. Anyone expecting straightforward pads and keyboard sounds will find these patches busier and stranger than that.
