What it does

A guitar and bass rig builder holding modelled amp heads, cabinets, stompboxes and rack gear, with extra collections sold as in-app purchases. The Bass Collection covered here adds four bass amps and matching cabs modelled on Ampeg, Gallien-Krueger and Trace Elliot gear, a bass overdrive with a clean blend control and an octaver, plus a volume pedal that goes to every owner.

In the demo

Jade plugs a bass into an interface and works through each head and cab, then the overdrive and octaver, adjusting the blend and moving the cabinet mics to hear the tone shift. She routes it through AUM and then into GarageBand over Inter-App Audio, and tracks a heavy down-tuned part with vocals on top.

Worth knowing

The base app is one purchase and the gear packs are separate in-app buys, so a full rig stacks up in cost. Anyone who already owns bass amp sims or hardware pedals will want to compare before adding this pack. A later episode runs through every guitar preset pack, including Slash, Dimebag Darrell, Jimi Hendrix and Brian May rigs, and notes the app is Inter-App Audio only, so tones bake into the track.
