Wurly

What it does

An emulation of the Wurlitzer electric piano covering both the 200 and the later 200A, switched from the panel. The tone side has pickup height, distance and key tracking that reshape the harmonics, an envelope with decay, a random decay that mimics an unevenly set instrument, a velocity curve, tone, tremolo and a speaker emulation blending mono against stereo. A separate noise section sets hammer, key release, clank and rattle, plus sustain pedal thump and harp resonance.

In the demo

Jade plays it into a Logic arrangement alongside bass, drums and guitar, then turns the noises off to hear the reed tone on its own and brings them back one at a time. She runs the factory presets, plays with a sustain pedal connected, and stacks several instances in AUM to watch the DSP meter.

Worth knowing

The instrument is modelled rather than sampled, which keeps the load light on older iPads. It is one instrument with two models, so anyone after a Rhodes or a broad keyboard collection needs something else.
