What it does

A mono synth with two engines that layer together. The kick engine runs a wavetable oscillator built from clean and processed analog kick samples, with punch, drive and a buzz circuit modelled on a broken speaker cone. The layer engine models the JP8000 supersaw and plays in modes like thirds, octaves, unison, sub and squelch. Every knob carries its own multi-segment envelope, drawn by hand and copied between knobs.

In the demo

Jade starts from the init patch with the layer switched off so each kick control is audible alone, draws envelopes, drags through the wavetables, then brings the layer modes in one at a time. She finishes by driving four instances from Euclidean sequencers in AUM.

Worth knowing

It is iPad only and monophonic, so no chords, and eight instances maxed out her iPad Pro. Saved presets are not reachable through the Files app. The Mac and Windows build is a separate free download from ToyBox Audio’s site. Her December 2024 update show covers a rebuilt interface and MIDI program change selecting presets.
