TGX-99/77

What it does

A sample library taken from the Yamaha SY99 and SY77, running as a standalone app and an AUv3. The skeuomorphic panel copies the original keyboard, with four banks of 16 patches. Each patch layers up to four waves, and every wave has its own wave, amp, control, modulation, filter and LFO pages. On top sit the Gospel Musicians effects: four inserts, a separate reverb section and a master chain with EQ, compressor and limiter.

In the demo

Jade opens by separating the two ways to buy it, then builds a patch by adding strings and a music box under a rock piano, panning the layers and locking their volumes together. She loads the 7.2 gig sample set from an external SSD, flicks between patches to show the load speed, and plays through the preset banks.

Worth knowing

It is iPad only. The same sounds are also sold as an in-app purchase inside the free Pure Synth Platinum at the same price, and buying one does not give you the other.
