Takeamidi

What it does

A MIDI monitor and buffer that holds the last ten seconds, minute or ten minutes of incoming MIDI. Channels and message types can be filtered, events read out as a list with hex, and the capture is drawn over a grid that syncs to host tempo. A drag handle in the corner lifts the selected range out as a MIDI file for another app.

In the demo

Jade captures Scaler chords in AUM and drags them straight into Helium, then does the same out of Logic Pro for iPad, where session player and drummer parts land in Cubasis and AUM with their tempo and velocities. She keeps hold of the drag while switching apps, and routes through Cubasis to reach NanoStudio.

Worth knowing

The drop does not land everywhere. NanoStudio would not take it, so it needed a mixdown and a file save instead. A copy keeps the silence before the first note, so it has to be nudged into place. It is also sold in a $7.99 App Store bundle with two other Nadzharov MIDI apps.
