Skipback

What it does

A rolling buffer that keeps the last 10 seconds, 30 seconds or one minute of audio passing through it, plus up to 5,000 MIDI notes, so a take played before pressing record can still be pulled out. Exports are 24-bit WAV or Standard MIDI File, shared or dragged straight into a host.

In the demo

Jade sets it up in AUM on a piano, drags captured MIDI into Helium and captured audio into Out Growth as a sample, then parks it on a mix bus behind four Bounce Butt generators. In Logic Pro, MIDI capture needs a second track holding its own Skipback.

Worth knowing

In GarageBand she gets audio out by copy and paste but finds no way to capture MIDI. It is a safety net, not a recorder, so tracking and arranging still need a DAW alongside it.
