SWAM Trumpet C

What it does

The trumpet in C from Audio Modeling’s SWAM brass line, modelled rather than sampled, so the note responds to the controller for as long as it lasts. Expression, dynamics, vibrato, growl, flutter tongue, breath noise and pitch sit on the panel and nearly all take MIDI learn. Mutes cover straight, cup and hand, and a timbre page reaches bell resonance, tuning and expressivity.

In the demo

Jade maps flutter tongue, growl, vibrato and pitch to four knobs on an Arturia KeyStep, then sets the C trumpet against the plain one at both ends of the range, where it reaches two notes further up and gives nothing back at the plain trumpet’s bottom note. On matched notes it is the brighter.

Worth knowing

Sold on its own and inside a Trumpets bundle with the plain trumpet, the piccolo trumpet and the two flugelhorns. Anyone holding the plain trumpet is buying brightness and a little more range.
