SWAM Tenor Sax

What it does

The tenor in Audio Modeling’s SWAM woodwind line, physically modelled rather than sampled, so expression, velocity, vibrato, growl, breath noise and key noise shape the sound as it plays. Every control takes MIDI learn from a knob or pedal, a timbre page steps through warmer and brighter versions of the horn, and a compressor, EQ and reverb section sits behind the effects tab. It loads standalone or as an AUv3.

In the demo

Jade opens it after the alto and finds most of her mappings have carried over, then plays over a Session Band jazz backing with the backing app’s own sax muted. Later she loads the tenor inside MIDI Guitar, connects a guitar through an iRig interface, turns on bends and aftertouch, and plays it monophonically from the strings.

Worth knowing

Anyone playing from a plain keyboard with no pedal will hear a flat, static version of it. Each SWAM woodwind is a separate purchase, and a Saxophones bundle covers the four saxes together.
