SWAM French Horn Bb

What it does

The B flat French horn in Audio Modeling’s SWAM brass line, modelled rather than sampled, so the note keeps changing while it sounds. Expression, velocity, vibrato, growl and its reaction time, flutter tongue, tongue attack and breath noise sit on the panel, and nearly all of them take MIDI learn. Pipe gestures switch between half valve, normal valve and half trans valve, mutes cover straight, cup and hand, and the timbre page reaches bell resonance and micro tuning. Standalone or AUv3.

In the demo

Jade plays it from an Arturia KeyStep 37 with an iRig Stomp IO on the floor standing in for an expression pedal, then MIDI learns flutter tongue, growl and breath noise onto three knobs. The panel walkthrough is done here, and she says all five apps are identical apart from the instrument picture.

Worth knowing

Sold on its own and in a Horns and Tubas bundle with four other apps. Some advanced parameters are locked off, and running all five at once in AUM strained the DSP.
