SWAM Flute

What it does

A physically modelled concert flute rather than a sampled one. Expression, velocity, vibrato, growl, flutter, breath noise and key noise all shape the note while it sounds, and each takes MIDI learn from a knob, slider or pedal. A timbre page steps through brighter and warmer versions of the instrument, there is an onscreen play surface with assignable X and Y axes, and a compressor, EQ and reverb section sits behind the effects tab. In the demo

Jade runs all four flutes at once in AUM with a reverb on each, plays from an M-Audio keyboard with an expression pedal on the floor, and maps growl, flutter, breath noise and key noise to the keyboard sliders so she can move them while playing. She then controls the flute from MonoLeap by matching its CC numbers to the parameter list in AUM.

Worth knowing

Flutter is available here where the saxophones have only growl. Without a pedal or another continuous controller the note sits flat, so the mapping stage is part of learning the instrument.
