SWAM Flugelhorn Eb

What it does

The E flat flugelhorn in Audio Modeling’s SWAM brass line, modelled rather than sampled, so the note keeps answering the controller for as long as it lasts. Expression, dynamics, vibrato, growl, flutter tongue, breath noise and pitch sit on the panel and nearly all take MIDI learn. Mutes cover straight, cup and hand, and presets save, copy, upload and download.

In the demo

Jade puts it next to the plain flugelhorn at the bottom of the range, where the two part company, and calls it the duller of the pair on matched notes. She then sets both to the Seaboard default MIDI preset and plays them together from GeoShred inside AUM.

Worth knowing

Sold on its own and inside a Trumpets bundle with the trumpet, trumpet in C, piccolo trumpet and plain flugelhorn. Of the five it is the darkest, which puts it furthest from the trumpets rather than next to them.
