SWAM Euphonium

What it does

The euphonium in Audio Modeling’s SWAM brass line, modelled rather than sampled, so the note goes on responding to the controller while it sounds. Expression, velocity, vibrato, growl, flutter tongue, tongue attack and breath noise sit on the panel, and nearly all of them take MIDI learn. Pipe gestures step between half valve, normal valve and half trans valve, mutes cover straight, cup and hand, and the timbre page reaches bell resonance and micro tuning. Presets include templates for breath controllers such as the Aerophone AE10.

In the demo

Jade closes the euphonium early to free up DSP and brings it back near the end, where she MIDI learns expression, growl and breath noise from scratch, showing how quickly the mapping goes. She then plays it a step above and below the horns and tubas.

Worth knowing

Sold on its own and inside a Horns and Tubas bundle with the two French horns and two tubas. Some advanced parameters are locked off.
