SWAM Double Bass Section

What it does

The double bass section in Audio Modeling’s SWAM string line, modelled rather than sampled, with up to six players and divisi variations voiced apart from each other. Controls match the other three sections: expression, velocity, vibrato, bow position, bow pressure, bow lift, tremolo, pizzicato, harmonics, alternative fingering, sordino and polyphony modes, all assignable by MIDI learn. The Ambiente room simulator is built in.

In the demo

The double bass is the fourth of the four sections released together, and Jade does the detailed walkthrough on the violin, saying the settings are the same across all of them. So the parts to watch here are the control pages: MIDI learning a pedal to expression, the bowing play mode, bow position and pressure, the fingering positions, and the Ambiente room.

Worth knowing

Sold on its own, with a String Sections bundle covering all four. Jade’s four part piece in this demo uses violins, violas and a cello, so there is no isolated double bass passage to hear. Each app needs local network access granted in standalone first, and a pedal or breath controller to play expressively.
