What it does

The lowest of the four SWAM saxophones, modelled rather than sampled, so the sound follows expression, velocity, vibrato and growl instead of switching between recorded articulations. The panel controls are the same across the range and every one of them takes MIDI learn, there is a timbre page of warmer and brighter versions, and a compressor, EQ and reverb section sits behind the effects tab. It loads standalone or as an AUv3.

In the demo

Jade opens it after the tenor, remaps growl to a keyboard knob because that setting did not carry across, and works the low register with the expression pedal so the growl comes in on held notes. She then jams over a medium swing backing and adds reverb to fill it out.

Worth knowing

It is a separate purchase from the other saxes, though a Saxophones bundle covers all four. The low end asks for room in a mix, and without a pedal or breath controller there is very little growl to work with.
