Speakers

What it does

A convolution effect that runs audio through emulations of microphones and loudspeakers. One side holds mic models grouped as condensers, dynamics, ribbons, phones and toys; the other holds cabinets, radios, megaphones, computer speakers and handsets. Each side has its own EQ, and a shared chain adds pitch, echo, degradation with distortion and bit crushing, compression, filtering and a layer of looping background noise.

In the demo

Jade talks and sings through the mic models one by one so each character is audible, then stacks a speaker on top and mixes the pair left and right. She runs the degradation and filter sections on the results, sets the background noise to duck behind her voice with its envelope, and works through the factory presets.

Worth knowing

This is a character and lo-fi tool, not a corrective one. Anyone wanting a clean mic upgrade on a vocal will be in the wrong app. A desktop version is sold separately on the AudioThing site.
