SECTOR

What it does

A loop slicer and pattern sequencer. An audio loop is split into sectors laid out around a clock face, each one a slice. The map page draws chance-weighted lines from sector to sector, so playback jumps around the loop rather than running straight through. A sequencer page sets its own order, up to 64 steps, each step with a chance of firing. A warp page adds scratches, stutters, reverses and time-bending per sector, also picked by probability, and four sets of each page can be saved and switched live.

In the demo

Jade clears every page and builds them up one at a time, so each layer of randomness is audible on its own. She slices her own drum loop, imports a bounce from Logic through AudioShare, then records a live jam inside the app and sends the recording straight back out.

Worth knowing

It is Inter-App Audio, not AUv3, so it runs in AUM and GarageBand but not Logic, and anything captured comes out as audio rather than MIDI. Launch it before the host. Importing goes through AudioShare rather than the Files app.
