Salome

What it does

A sampler that takes one recorded or imported sound, turns it into a seamless loop, and plays it polyphonically from MIDI or an MPE controller. The on-screen keypads respond to vertical and horizontal movement, which can be routed to volume, LFO depth, tremolo, pitch bend, filter cutoff or panning, and a latch holds notes so chords stack across octaves. There is a filter, an LFO, an envelope, chorus and ambience, plus factory presets and user preset banks that can be exported.

In the demo

Jade plays it from a keyboard and from the touch surface, latches notes into drones, imports an ambient sample, records her voice through a microphone with the app in an effect slot, and resamples three AUv3 instruments at once through an AUM mix bus.

Worth knowing

It holds one sound at a time and is built around speed, so it suits sketching drones and textures rather than assembling a multi-sampled instrument.
