Ringotron

What it does

A ring modulator built from two parallel modulating elements, each aimed at its own slice of the frequency spectrum. Every band has a centre frequency, gain, Q and depth, so the effect can be narrowed onto part of a sound rather than transforming all of it. A stereo phase page offsets left and right, and a softener plus limiter and clipper sit at the output to hold back the harsh upper harmonics ring modulation tends to generate.

In the demo

Jade builds it up on a plain piano loop so each control is audible on its own, then sweeps the two centre bands, adds tempo-synced modulation, and demonstrates the unsafe mode that unlocks extreme resonance. She finishes running presets across drums, bass and her own voice.

Worth knowing

The manual was still being written at the time of the demo, so presets are the practical way in. Anyone wanting a single-knob ring mod will find more depth here than they need.
